Hello, I'm from Portugal and I want to understand what happened in your premier league, why Cork city and Derry city left the premier league if they finished 3rd and 4th places? and why the team qualified in 3rd place (fingal) have been promoted and the team who stays at 2nd place not? explain me please! thank you
ReplyDeleteHello Tink,
ReplyDeleteYou've maybe come to the wrong place for this information as this is a site for the Irish League (Northern Ireland) and the teams you seek info on are from the League of Ireland (Republic of Ireland).
Both Derry City and Cork City had financial problems and were consequently not allowed to compete in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Derry were relegated and Cork were dissolved.
Sporting Fingal were promoted following a play-off series involving the bottom two teams from the Premier Division and the top two from the First Division. Bray Wanderers, who lost in the play-offs were not relegated due to Cork's demise.
