ReplyDeleteHmmm... it's quite difficult to find!
ReplyDeleteUsually I use your website for Northern Ireland football issues (I'm a sports researcher...) and I think that if you don't know it, nobody do.
P.S.: I had a "Bobby Rea" called up for the 1958 World Cup... but I think it's definitely an error!
P.P.S.: I think that in the future I'll send you an e-mail with my World Cup doubts about N.Irish squads... can I have your help?
I'm seeking a bit of further help on Rea and I'll post it if I have any joy.
ReplyDeleteI'll try and help with any specific requests. You can mail me at jcd.nifg(at)gmail.com

No, Christian, it is not an error about the 1958 World Cup, Roy Rea was indeed a member of the team that went to Sweden. He did not play, as Harry Gregg was the regular 'keeper and Norman Uprichard was his understudy/deputy so Roy was number 3 in order of priority. Never heard of him being called 'Bobby', that must be a typo.
